Freedom Fridays – Silver Cane Program for Blind Seniors in Phoenix & Tucson

The Silver Cane Program at Saavi Services for the Blind invites seniors who are blind or low vision to join us every Friday for Freedom Fridays—a free, empowering, community-based day of learning and connection in both Phoenix and Tucson.

🌟 What is the Silver Cane Program?
Designed for older adults (ages 55+) who are blind or have low vision, the Silver Cane Program creates space for socializing, skill-building, and personal growth. Freedom Fridays are open to anyone seeking connection, resources, and meaningful engagement.
Each Friday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, participants enjoy a rotating schedule of interactive workshops, practical training, and enrichment. In-person attendees receive a complimentary lunch and access to all activities.
🎯 What to Expect on a Freedom Friday
- Learn to cook and manage life at home nonvisually
- Explore assistive technology in a hands-on environment
- Join Braille Club for reading and writing practice
- Take fitness classes tailored to your needs
- Attend workshops with guest speakers
- Enjoy woodshop projects, games, and local field trips
Because we believe in inclusion and community, we also offer a virtual support group every Friday at 11:00 AM for those who cannot attend in person.
